Rwanda’s President Taps Fresh Premier
Nsengiyumva, formerly the deputy governor of the National Bank of Rwanda, steps into the role following the dismissal of Edouard Ngirente, who had held the prime minister position since 2017. This change was confirmed in an official statement from the government spokesperson’s office on Wednesday.
Taking to X, Nsengiyumva expressed gratitude to the president for his confidence and vowed to serve Rwanda with dedication and humility.
"I fully embrace the responsibility entrusted to me and remain committed to advancing our national priorities with integrity and purpose. I will give all I have in me to help you (president) achieve your great vision for this country," he stated.
Under Rwanda’s constitution, the prime minister’s appointment triggers the formation of a new cabinet, which must be completed within 15 days.
